The environmental issue is quite complex. It is easy to be overwhelmed by all the alarming reports that reach us almost daily. At AGO we are convinced, however, that it is possible to change our outlook for the future.
Sustainable developement is the strive for a fair, safe and healthy world for future generations, and for our own. Sustainability also means that this is a constant strive, and never a finished project. We are aware that we can always better ourselves in this area. It is our obligation to always be conscious of our strain on the environment and to lessen it as much as possible. There are many ways to affect our strain on the environment. The choice of transportation for our products have a great impact on our emissions of CO2. Air freights emits about 60 times as much CO2 as ship freight, calculating on the same product with the same start and final destination. On the other hand ship freights release other environmentally hazardous substances into our seas, such as sulphur dioxides. This is yet another example of the complexity of these issues.
It is only through greater knowledge that doubts and insecurity can be overcome. At AGO we strive to keep ourselves constantly updated on environmentally friendly alternatives. Through continuous education of the entire staff we are able to reach our goals for constant improvement.
The goal of our strives and our work is to achieve a more sustainable ethical platform for our company. A common perception is that environmental work costs money, which it initially often does. We are convinced, however, that this investment will pay back tenfold. It will payback via greater motivation among our colleagues, less wasted resources for our company, and increased credibility with our clients and partners. But above all it is our obligation to act, for we are all part of the same world and we must all do something to increase the health of our planet.
